October 8 @ 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm
Join Dublin City Council Historian in Residence Catherine Scuffil as she unravels the story behind the Dolphin’s Barn Brick Company and the many people associated with it.
Talks The company was located on the Crumlin Road from the 1890s until 1944 with the clay pits extending from Kimmage through Drimnagh to the Grand Canal at Goldenbridge. The brickworks were a huge local employer, and many current residents had family who worked there in the past. The iconic yellow Dolphin’s Barn bricks are an important fashionable addition featured in many house-sale promotions and the brickfields themselves are commemorated in a popular local park.
